Shift Manager
  • The candidate for this position is a highly analytical change agent, preferably from the Ports / Terminal business. Candidates in shipping / shipping agencies who match the profile can also be considered. Preference shall be given to Graduates.
  • Excellent Interpersonal & problem solving skill and fluency in English.
  • Must have excellent skills in standard Windows applications and mail clients such as Outlook or Outlook Express, Power point presentation.

Job Profile :
The position shall be Responsible for container sections, cargo planning, documentation of all cargo’s & administration on shift basis:

  • Planning:
    Responsible for ensuring that all to ensure that the data is updated in the Terminal Operating system on a regular basis.
    Vessels are planned for cargo operations in an efficient manner.
    Yard planning is carried out for optimal utilization of space; minimize shifting and efficient movements of containers.
    Reports are generated from the TOS as required. VPS and YMS checked for accuracy of data on a regular basis.

    Documentation:
    Ensuring that all cargo operations are recorded in the tally sheets/TOS/reports.
    All customers are informed of their cargo movements in/out of the Port as per Standard Operating Procedures.
    Data for MIS and Productivity captured and formatted as per Standard Reporting Systems.
    Invoicing Data captured and forwarded to accounts department for billing customers.
    All stevedoring related activities are documented, checked and paid to the Service Providers in line with the work orders issued.
    All Master Sheets, Intranet files and hard copies are updated and maintained.
    All attendance of staff, overtime sheets, salary advises, duty schedules, daily/periodical reports to external agencies, equipment log sheets verified & endorsed, maintenance of crane log books, Fuel issuance, equipment utilization records, allotment of maintenance shifts and breakdowns recorded, leave forms/records maintained for all staff and forwarded to Port HR, Distribution of Tariff amendments, Port notices and circulars to the trade, and any other documentation related activities as required.

    Reefers:
    Ensure customers information is sent timely, DTR, PTI/run-tests, allotments, repairs & other services are documented, reported and invoiced.
    Ensure a safe working environment exists in the Terminal, adherence to established standard procedures etc.
    Especially with regard to container operations, ensure that the maximum possible net crane rate is achieved on vessels calling at the Port.

    Claims prevention
    To ensure that all activities undertaken such as tally and reefer monitoring, vessel operations (Container/Bulk/Liquid), CFS, Yard and Gate operations are undertaken professionally and with a view to good customer service and avoidance of any incidence of claims being raised against the port.
    Responsible for carrying out half-yearly and annual appraisals of reporting staff.
