• Master Mariner (Foreign Trade) with previous command experience. Experience of piloting vessels in conditions similar to that existing at Pipavav is essential. It is desirable that all certificates of competency should be valid at the time of employment and updated to the latest possible levels of competency.
• Must be PC savvy with good skills in standard Windows applications and mail clients such as Outlook or Outlook Express.

Job Profile :
The position shall be responsible for all container operations in the port including :-

• Assists in managerial duties in connection with the Marine Department, ensuring that safe and efficient services are provided to our customers.
• Assists in the management of key vendors who provide marine services for the Port.
• Provides leadership and direction for the Marine Department including all activities of the Port Marine Control room.
• Provides direction and instruction to subordinate staff, providing regular feedback and regular appraisals.
• Ensures enforcement of the Port Rules and regulations as related to marine activities.
• Ensures that appropriate direction, control and discipline is applied to all vessels that call within the port boundaries, including conventional craft, barges, dhows, fishing crafts, naval and police boats to ensure their safety and safety of the Port.
• Ensures that rescue and life saving measures are taken when vessels in distress within/without the port limits seek such assistance, or it becomes apparent that such measures are needed.
• Ensures that effective communications are in place and operating between the Port and vessels.
• Develops and updates port procedures and harbour management systems.
• Works closely with local, regional and national government regulatory agencies pertaining to Marine, Port Authority and Transportation Activities.
• Works closely with the Health, Safety, Security and Environment Department to assure port safety, fire fighting capability, pollution and hazardous materials control, and salvage operations.
• Prepares monthly reports on vessel movements and general activities of the department.
