System Administrator

The candidate should have appropriate qualification & experience. Preference shall be given to B.Sc.(Computer Science)/ BCA / MCA / MCSA or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).

Job Profile :
The position shall be responsible for the following :

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Maintaining regular records of system downtime and equipment inventory. Applying revisions to host system firmware and software.
  • Working with vendors to assist support activities
  • Manage approx. 20 servers in a Active Directory environment at two locations ensuring each server has 100% uptime for a 24X7 setup
    Expertise in Windows Enterprise 2003 Server, Unix and Linux all in clustered environment
  • Develop procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems, host-based applications/databases and data
  • Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices
  • Advance knowledge and troubleshooting of MS SQL Server 2000/2005 and ORACLE 10g
  • Conception and implementation of datawarehousing
  • Regularly applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes. Responsible for documenting the configuration of the systems
  • Develop new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Train technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired
  • Perform troubleshooting as required. Lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
  • Establish, maintain and manage users’ Windows 2003 and Unix accounts. Install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on servers. Provide server support related to other software.
  • Establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries, SAN storage and other components
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources
  • Develop procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse
  • Stay current and uptodate with technological developments in systems administration and recommend ways to take advantage of new technology
  • Administration of secure web servers such as Apache, knowledge of Perl, CGI scripting and Bourne shell scripting, system level security procedures, familiarity with cryptography tools e.g. secure shell, open SSL, IPSec etc.
  • Experience in maintaining servers for standard internet services such as DNS, NFS, DHCP, Samba and FTP service.
