The candidate should have appropriate qualification & experience. Preference shall be given to B.Sc.(Computer Science)/ BCA / MCA / OCPP MCDBA.

Job Profile :

The position shall be responsible for the following :

• Install, upgrade, configure, maintain and optimise Oracle 10g, SQL Server 2000/2005 and required applications and tools
• Create, maintain and optimise RACs (Real Application Clustering), Dataguard and other advance features for 24X7 setup
• Ensure data consistency, quality, accuracy and integrity
• Evaluate database server hardware/OS configuration and coordinate with system administrator for optimal configuration and recommendations
• Regularly evaluate, test and successfully apply patches
• Identify and resolve key problems with database structures including :
  a) Create and modify physical storage structures (i.e. tablespaces, tables, indices, partitions, clusters, snapshots, rollback segments, temporary storage structures, clusters and data files)
  
  b) Size physical storage structures to minimize database fragmentation and chaining
  
  c) Distribute and balance I/O
  
• Plan for future storage capacity requirements for the server and database
• Monitor and optimize the performance of database applications and the database as a unit
• Monitor the availability and reliability of database-related procedures, processes, and services
• Manage users, privileges, roles, and quotas to control and monitor user access to the database
• Maintain a backup and recovery strategy for database information and restore the database as required
• Maintain archived data for point-in-time restorations
• Install, upgrade, configure, and tune network access to the database (i.e. SQL*Net, Oracle Names, ODBC etc)
• Assist project teams with applying standards and resolving integration issues
• Assist project teams in prototyping and optimizing queries
• Assist project teams in designing the database storage structures and program units as to the effect on :
  a) The performance of the database as a unit
  
  b) The performance of the server executing the RDBMS
  
  c) The performance of the database during data operations and transactions
  
  d) The efficiency of backup and recovery procedures for the database
  
  
• Provide education and training to database users and developers
• Develop DBA support utilities, scripts and tools
• Commissioning and installing new applications
