Port Pipavav handles a variety of bulk and break bulk cargo such as coal, cement, clinker, fertilisers, steel, iron ore, agri-products, salt and soda ash. The port also handles also handle specialised project cargo.

The port has deployed one mobile-harbour Mannesmann Gottwald Harbour Crane (HMK 296E) from Germany, and two rail-mounted Electric Level Luffing (ELL) cranes from BM Titan of Belgium for the efficient handling of bulk and break-bulk cargo. Port Pipavav has installed sufficient weighbridges to support the bulk cargo operations, and also offers an in-motion weighbridge on rails.
The port has constructed seven warehouses of 600 sq. mts. each, and two warehouses of 3,657 and 3,252 sq. mts., respectively. These warehouses are located behind the dry cargo berths.
Six additional warehouses of approximately 6,690 sq. mts. each have been constructed in the warehousing zone, approximately 2.5 kilometres from the berths. Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) operates four of the warehouses located in the warehousing zone.
The port has leased all of these warehouses from CWC. The port also has an open stack yard of 250,000 square meters dedicated to the storage of bulk cargoes such as coal, minerals, scrap, project cargo, etc.
Dedicated Fertilizer storage area with paved platforms and measuring approx. 107,300 square meters is available near rail siding.
