Member of the APM Terminals Network Port Pipavav leverages the shipping experience, strengths and network of its parent, APM Terminals, which operates 49 terminals in 32 countries on five continents.
Port Pipavav is an all-weather port located just 152 nautical miles from Nhava Sheva in Mumbai. The port’s location in the state of Gujarat provides immediate access to a rich hinterland and key markets in northwest India.
EU-recognised Container Freight Station (CFS) facilities are located just 200 metres from the quay. After stuffing, containers can be moved from the CFS to the vessel in just ten minutes, streamlining the movement of goods through the port.
With a total land area of 590 hectares, and at least 400 hectares of land available for expansion of port-related services and businesses, Port Pipavav has ample room to grow. The port has leased out land for a variety of services, including private reefer technicians, who offer repair, maintenance and pre-trip inspection services.
Port Pipavav offers a range of cargo handling services, including container, bulk and general cargo, and project cargo. Liquid cargo operations will commence shortly. The container berths have both Panamax and Post-Panamax cranes, while the port has deployed a mobile harbour Mannesmann Gottwald Harbour Crane and rail-mounted Electric Level Luffing (ELL) cranes for bulk and break-bulk cargo.
The port is equipped with 420 forty–foot powered ground slots for reefer container storage. In addition, Port Pipavav is the only Gujarat port with dedicated reefer trains, and handles seven reefer trains per month, on average. It is the closest port in the state of Gujarat, to major refrigeration centres of Viraval and Porbandar.
